How to get CPR certified

1. Choose your course. Pick the certification your job or situation calls for (see below).
2. Choose a format and date. Book an instructor-led class, or a blended learning class with an online portion first.
3. Attend and practice. You practice chest compressions, rescue breaths and AED use on manikins until you can do them confidently.
4. Get your certificate. Your digital Red Cross certificate arrives by email, usually within 24 hours of finishing the class.

Which CPR certification do I need?

Adult CPR/AED covers breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults. A good fit if you only need CPR, or for personal preparedness.
Adult First Aid CPR/AED adds bleeding, burns, injuries and sudden illness. This is the usual choice for workplace and OSHA requirements.
Adult and Pediatric First Aid CPR/AED adds children and infants. Choose this if you work with kids: childcare staff, teachers, coaches, camp counselors, babysitters and parents.
If your employer or licensing board names a specific course, book that one. Not sure? Ask us before you book.

How long does CPR certification last?

American Red Cross CPR, AED and First Aid certificates are valid for two years from the class date. To renew, take the course again before your certificate expires. Your expiration date is printed on your digital certificate, and you can download a copy from the Red Cross at any time.

Is online-only CPR certification valid?

Most employers and OSHA-regulated workplaces require a hands-on skills check, which online-only courses do not include. Our blended learning option gives you the flexibility of online learning plus an in-person skills session, so your certificate meets the same requirements as a fully in-person class.

Instructor-led or blended learning?

Instructor-led classes are taught entirely in person. Blended learning classes have an online portion you complete on a computer or tablet before class, followed by a shorter in-person skills session. Both earn the same Red Cross certificate.

How much does CPR certification cost?

Adult CPR/AED is $115, Adult First Aid CPR/AED is $125, and Adult and Pediatric First Aid CPR/AED is $135. Training a team? We offer on-site CPR and first aid training at your workplace anywhere in New Jersey.
